About this Association
Dear Alumnus,
We have some exciting news to share with you about our alumni association and a request to ask of you as we enter this New Year.
2009 was an eventful year for the Highlands Alumni Association. In addition to representing the association and being recognized at Twin Rivers Joint Union School District board meetings and community events – the North Highlands Memorial Day Parade, the Highlands Jubilee, as well as the Park & Recreation’s Halloween and Christmas parties – we held several fund raisers – our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament @ Cherry Island, a BBQ and Swim Party @ the Elk’s Lodge, a yard/bake sale @ the Park & Recreation’s Office parking lot and our annual Christmas party, also at the Cherry Island Club House. But, our most gratifying accomplishment in 2009 was to present three of Highlands’ most deserving graduating seniors with scholarships to help with their continuing education.
That’s what our association is all about – the students! The Highlands High School Alumni Association is committed to help support, encourage and advance the students, faculty and staff at our alma mater. How? In 2010, we have many exciting events planned – parades, fund raisers and community events. And in support of our campus, the association has several campus activities planned:
-
Strengthen school pride by doing a landscaping face lift on the area just adjacent to the office that honors a member of the faculty from the 1960’s – Coach Don Gilbert.
- Encourage learning by establishing mentoring relationships with students who need a helping hand.
- Preserve the school’s history by remembering previous graduating classes, their accomplishments and contributions by way of a centrally-located display case on campus.
- And, of course, provide financial support to the students of Highlands High School with scholarships – three annually – for their continuing education.
Okay, here is where that request comes in. Annual membership fees are due and payable on January 1st of each year. We count on our members for continued support to achieve our goals. In addition, your assistance planning and participating at any of our fund raising activities is encouraged and absolutely always welcome. If you are not a member, please become one today – help support the future of Highlands High School and its students. Just print and complete the membership (renewal) form to – form and return it to – The Highlands Alumni Association, PO Box 794, North Highlands, CA 95660, along with a check or money order in the amount of $10.00 to cover 2010 annual fees. Please note, multi-year (discounted) memberships are also available, if you choose.
Thank you in advance for your prompt payment; as well as your continued membership and support. We look forward to seeing you at future events.
